Ivy

Ivy’s journey has been one of the most heartbreaking and difficult cases we’ve ever faced. You may already know her story, as it’s the first time we’ve dealt with a wound so severe that treatment took nearly an entire year. We rescued Ivy in November 2023, with a large, deep wound under her armpit caused by being trapped in a fence. Having endured weeks of pain before we could help, the wound became badly infected, growing over 4 inches in diameter. Despite multiple surgeries, daily bandage changes, and months of medical care, Ivy’s recovery was repeatedly hindered by the wound’s location and ongoing infections that slowed healing. Before making the painful decision to amputate her leg, we sought a second opinion and committed to trying every possible treatment. This led us to pursue an intensive, costly VAC therapy treatment, followed by one last surgery in a final effort to save her leg. Throughout this long and difficult process, Ivy was in a loving foster home where she received the care and attention she needed. Over time, the bond between her and her foster family grew, and they made the beautiful decision to adopt her. Though Ivy’s journey was long and filled with struggles, it has now culminated in a happily ever after—a new chapter of love and happiness in her forever home.
